What Exactly is Forex Binary Option Trading?
When trading stocks on the market, most are familiar with the traditional model of buy and sell. This methodology although largely understood has limited returns. Because of it’s safety the amount earned on any single stock trade is lessened when compared with the potential earnings to be made from an option such as binary options.
Binary options, in short, are a bet against the performance of a certain stock over a period of time. When that period of time expires, if the conditions you bet on are met, you win, if not, you lose. This ‘all-or-nothing’ scenario is where the binary option gets its name- you are on or off, win or lose, no in between.
The main difference between traditional trading and binary options are as follows:
- Binary options are active for a certain period of time
- At the end of that period, results are decided, win or lose
- No incremental gains- you either win the full amount or lose the full amount
- A lot of money can be made with effective binary option trading
Assets
To start a binary option, an asset must be chosen to place the bet against. When choosing an asset, it is best to understand the nature and volatility of that particular asset. If the market has shown that asset to fluctuate unpredictably, perhaps this is not the best choice. As with most unreliable bets, however, the odds may be much higher for that asset.
A more prudent option is to choose an asset whose performance is rather predictable. If you believe that particular asset to perform a certain way based on some information, all the better.
Time Frame
The second part of a binary option is to decide what time frame you will be betting on. You will be betting that over the course of this time frame, your chosen asset will perform a certain way.
If at the end of that chosen time frame, your asset has performed as you predicted and reached the goal you’ve specified, you win. If not, you lose.
Binary options can be chosen over different periods of time depending on whom you are dealing with. They can be purchased in duration of months, weeks, days or even hours, depending on how you want to purchase the binary option and how you feel the asset will perform over the duration of that time.
Conditions
This is arguably, the most important part of the binary option. You’ve chosen an asset, you’ve specified a time frame, now comes the part where you decide what the asset will do at the end of that time frame.
When the binary option comes due, if your asset has indeed performed as expected, you win the binary option. If your asset performs even a fraction short of your prediction, you lose, no questions asked.
